This webinar will discuss how to create 3D printable designs without 3D CAD. Techniques will focus on
using primitive shapes in the slicer as well as creating more complex shapes using freeware shape editing software (Inkscape). We'll demonstrate how to create structural shapes that will become a modern "monopole" signpost.
This project took about an hour to prepare with slicer primitives and a few shapes drawn 2-D in Inkscape. The parts take about an hour to print and 30-minutes to assemble.
The design allows the sign pole assembly to be installed as a single or double-sided installation with up to 4 signs displayed. A small modification allows you to place a pair of the sign arms in a "V" configuration, which angles the messages to target both directions of traffic.
Our sample was printed using a 0.4mm nozzle and a 0.12mm layer height. The grid walkways were printed with a 0.2mm nozzle and a 0.12mm layer height. For those without a 0.2mm nozzle, fine screen can be installed to represent the grids.
We will provide all attendees with the STLs that we create, along with the images that were created in Inkscape. We encourage everyone to try this method themselves and use the files we provide for insight and comparison.

This webinar will introduce you to the methods available to customize 3D printed structures using just the Slicer software included with your printer. No CAD or other software experience is needed.
We will download a structure, import the parts into the slicer and then illustrate how you can extend the wall, open up a window to create a doorway, and even create a door panel from scratch. The result is a model that is unique and custom tailored to your particular scene.
The presentation will run about 1 hour, after which we will address questions. If there is interest, we will open the session to discussion to share ideas.
This is an informational session by hobbyists, for hobbyists. There will be no sales or marketing by anyone at this event.
