Metal God Casting
Metal God Casting is a foundry that specializes in aluminum castings. In addition to signs, address plaques, steins, and markers, they have a large line of railroad signs that are full-size replicas of the original cast iron prototypes. These are great and authentic decorations for any train room, lounge, or den.
On display at a recent model RR show were yard limit, speed limit, Whistle, RR Crossing, and other railroad signs. These were painted white with black lettering and outlines and, aside from the weight, were identical to prototype signs we’ve all seen along the right of way or in museums. Also on display were some castings that they made for restoring the bell frames on an old steam engine. Roland mentioned that they do this type of custom work as well.
What makes RB Services unique is their environmental friendly methods.
Roland explained that they obtain much of their aluminum for their castings by recycling the custom or decorative aluminum automotive wheels that have been damaged. They recycle their own casting materials, and even the water and sand used to make the molds.
I purchased the Yard Limit sign to and it now hangs on the exit door of my layout room. Their prices are reasonable, quality built to last a lifetime, and – being aluminum – you won’t pay more for shipping than for the signs!
